Edwardian Jacket Purple Velvet Cream Lace & Feathers
Rare costume piece from the turn of the 20th century, this stunner features a fitted chest area and long sleeves with exaggerated, puffed shoulders. The sleeves and trim are velvet while the front and back of torso are in a matching, burgundy silk.
Neck and front chest is adorned with a creamy, ribbed, silk panel with a bit of cream lace trim at left, while the back of the neck and shoulders are festooned with feathers and matching velvet bows. It closes with a series of hidden hooks along the left side; from the left shoulder, all the way down to the waist. Lined. No tags. Custom made as were most clothes for the well-to-do of this era.
Shoulders 13"
Sleeves 23"
Chest 32"
Waist 22"
Length 18"
Condition: very good considering its antiquity but more than wearable as is. There is a tiny dot shaped white mark on right sleeve that seems like glue and the velvet trim around the neck has some crude repair stitching. The underarm areas show some slight discoloration. One one hook out of the 15 is missing (for interior closure). All of this is only noticeable is you lay it flat and look for issues under direct light. Priced accordingly.
